My boyfriend and I were talking about the benefits of waking up early. He sometimes goes for a morning run (!) since it’s not as hot, while I just want some peace and quiet before everyone else wakes up. We’ve both found that it allows us to start our day right and this small win in the morning sets the tone for the rest of the day.
Since I’ve resolved to get my diet back on track, I thought I’d revisit one of the most effective pieces of diet advice I’d gotten. In 2018, I read the book The Virgin Diet by J.J. Virgin, which was recommended by Vishen Lakhiani, founder of Mindvalley. I kinda cringed at the name and the book cover, but I’m so glad that I read it.
Man, this is easily the best book I’ve read this year. It’d been sitting on my bookshelf for a looooong time just waiting for me to pick it up. Muhammad Yunus is amazing. He wrote this book in 2007, yet it contains so many visionary and inspiring ideas around addressing poverty through innovative business models.
I randomly picked up this book at a library in Melbourne. Ah, the beautiful things you discover when you’re not even looking! Despite the title, this book isn’t so much about the technical detail of investing strategies. Rather, it talks a lot about the mindset that’s required to be a good investor, which also applies to many other aspects of life.
Who knew that the innocuous-looking romance novel I picked up on a whim from a community bookshelf which was full of my favourite genre – crime fiction – would be a book that I can honestly say has changed my life?
